News: 3 Cab Drivers Arrested In Sonora

SONORA (CBS13) - Three members of a cab company were arrested in Sonora following a run-in with a member of a competing cab company.

Ronald Paul, a 46-year-old employee of Golden State Cab and a Sonora resident, was inside the restaurant at around 10 p.m. Sunday when he allegedly threatened to hurt a former business partner and owner of a competing cab company, according to a statement from the Sonora Police Dept.

Having been assaulted by Paul in the past and fearing for his safety, the man called police. Officers arrested Paul a short time later on charges of making criminal threats.

About an hour later, the owner of Golden State Cab, Michael Schaff, 32, of Sonora came to the restaurant and accused the management of having Paul arrested. He reportedly caused a disturbance and drove off in a cab.

Fifteen minutes later, an officer pulled over a Golden State Cab, suspecting Schaff was behind the wheel, but it turned out to be a different driver. The officer suspected the driver was intoxicated and took him into custody. Lawrence Rodriquez, 50, of Sonora was booked into the Tuolumne County Jail for DUI.

Finally in the early hours of Monday morning, Schaff went to the police department to pick up a release form for the car Rodriguez was driving when he was arrested. Instead, he was arrested for making a disturbance at the restaurant and was booked into the Tuolumne County Jail for disturbing the peace.
