One of our area’s most popular Fall attractions is back and in full swing! Bishop’s Pumpkin Farm and has some new features to it. Bishop’s new Harvest Barn has been in the works for about 6 years and is finally open for pumpkin check-out and to create a great display for produce and really add a beautiful touch to the front of the farm. In the back of the farm Fire Pits were also added for rent on Friday and Saturday nights in October.

It’s back and bringing all of the fun with it! The 22nd annual Elk Grove Giant Pumpkin Festival is sure to draw a GIANT crowd as it presents “The Greatest Pumpkin Show on Earth” which will include stage performances and roving entertainment by Velocity Circus Troupe. Festival goers will behold jugglers, stilt walkers, aerialists, a strong man, a fortune teller and much more! World-champion eater Joey Chestnut will be there at 1:30 p.m. for a pie-eating contest.

Today you can come to church with your pets – furry, finned, feathered or any other “wardrobe” your animal wears to Trinity Episcopal Cathedral for the annual Blessing of the Animals. People can gather in the Great Hall for the Family Service with prayers, music and a celebration of all of God’s creatures, and a blessing on each animal in attendance.

Breast Cancer Survivor
October is breast cancer awareness month and with us today is a local breast survivor to relay the top things women should know if they are faced with a breast cancer diagnosis. Katherine was the first person in the world to use a novel genomic test (Oncotype DX) to help tailor her treatment and ultimately avoid the use of chemotherapy. She is now celebrating 10 years since being cancer free and is passionate about educating women on their options when they face a breast cancer diagnosis.
