Big Rig Crash Closes Highway 99 Near Oroville

OROVILLE (CBS13) - Highway 99 in the Oroville area has been closed since an overnight crash involving a big rig hauling onions.

Lanes on the highway at Nelson Avenue south of Gridley have been closed since the big rig jackknifed and brought down power lines onto the highway.

No injuries have been reported, but it's expected to still be several hours before the wreck is cleaned up.
PG&E is assessing the damage to the lines and working to repair them.

There is a detour in place for both north and southbound traffic. Northbound drivers should take eastbound Highway 162 to northbound 70 and get back on Highway 99 from there.

Southbound drivers are advised to take southbound 149 to southbound 70 before getting back to Highway 99.

The highway isn't expected to be back open until 8 a.m.
