9:30 UPDATE: Fire crews have gained control of the fire, but said they will be on the scene well into the night to mop up. Firefighters do not have an estimated time of clearing.

Modesto fire confirmed that two large commercial buildings, one of which was Crescent Supply, were burned in the fire.

Other than the one firefighter injured, no other injuries were reported from this fire.

The cause is still under investigation.

6:45 UPDATE: The fire is now categorized as a general alarm fire, which is the highest alarm that can be called for a fire.

Modesto Fire said that one firefighter was injured in the fight and has been transported to an area hospital. The extent of the firefighter’s injuries is unknown at this time.

With the general alarm, firefighters are requesting resources from anyone and everyone who is available to deploy resources.

Modesto Fire, Ceres Fire, Stanislaus Consolidated Fire, Turlock Fire, and Burbank Fire are responding to the fire.

6 p.m. UPDATE: Per Modesto Fire, the fire has now spread to a second building and is a four-alarm fire.

No injuries have been reported yet.

MODESTO (CBS13) — A large warehouse fire has broken out at I and 8th Street in Downtown Modesto.

Large plumes of black smoke can be seen around the area from the fire.

Fire crews are en route.

According to the Modesto Fire Department, the fire is burning in an old warehouse and started just before 5 p.m.

It is unclear what started the fire at this time.
