Tree Crashes Through Roof Of Citrus Heights Home

CITRUS HEIGHTS (CBS13) - A Citrus Heights resident has a big mess to clean up after an oak tree crashed onto her home.

The house is on Saint Philomena way, just off Fair Oaks Boulevard. The woman says she was at home when she heard a loud noise and saw the tree come through the roof. She says she was just about to go to the part of the home where the tree fell.

"It sounded like an earthquake to me and then...it came from the back of the house. So I get up from the kitchen table, I ran in the back room and I look in my bedroom and the limb's all the way through my bedroom," she said.

When the tree came down it also took out electricity to about 100 homes, according to SMUD's outage map. Power is estimated to be fully restored sometime this afternoon.

Six people live at the residence.

Strong wind gusts are expected to continue in our region until about 6 p.m. tonight.
