3 escaped goats show up at town hall in Rhode Island

RICHMOND, R.I. (AP) — Three goats in rural Rhode Island escaped from their home and ended up following a local resident to the town hall.

The Westerly Sun reports (http://bit.ly/1RKZ3Vg ) the goats showed up on the lawn of Richmond Town Hall Monday after following Richard Gibson there. He was headed to the tax assessor's office.

Town Clerk Tracy Nelson tells the newspaper that Gibson alerted them there were goats on their lawn. She, Gibson and another town employee went outside and grabbed the goats until animal control could arrive.

They herded the animals into the animal control van until the owner arrived and brought them home.

Nelson says it's not the first time farm animals have visited town hall.

She says they've had cows, horses and "all kind of things" running through the parking lot.
