News: Arrest Made In Connection With Burned Bodies

CHICO (CBS13) - A suspect was arrested in the early hours of Wednesday morning for the murder of three people found in a burned car abandoned in Butte County.

Around 5 a.m., sheriff's detectives arrested 72-year-old Donald Clark in the 14000 block of Centerville Road in Chico for arson and three counts of murder. He was booked into Butte County Jail, with bail set at more than $3 million.

On June 13, the bodies of three people were found in a burning vehicle on Skyway Road near Hupp-Coutolenc Road in Magalia. An autopsy revealed gunshot wounds in all three victims. They are believed to be from the Sacramento area, but officials will not release their names until they have been positively identified. The car is an 2000 Acura TL that was recently reported stolen by Sacramento police.

The investigation is ongoing, but authorities say they do not anticipate making any more arrests at this time.

Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to contact Det. Matt Calkins with the Butte County Sheriff's Office at (530) 538-7671.
