ELK GROVE (CBS13) – Elk Grove is losing a place to shop for groceries.

Save-Mart has announced its store on Laguna Boulevard will close on June 18.

The store is in the same shopping center where a Borders book store closed a few years ago.

Save-Mart says the store was not doing well.

According to a long time employee, Save-Mart is trying to place employees at their other stores.

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Hot dogs are a staple of summer, and they are usually pretty cheap.

However, Capitol Dawg in Sacramento wanted to set a world record for most expensive hot dog, so they sold one that cost $145.49.

A representative from Guinness World Records bestowed the title of “World’s Most Expensive Hot Dog” on Capitol Dawg owner Mike Brown.

A third of the proceeds from the pricey wiener went to Shriner’s hospitals.

The 18-inch hot dog is topped with a number of ingredients including baby greens, garlic-herb mayo, dried cranberries and very expensive $500 a pound moose cheese.

CARMICHAEL (CBS13) – A man is under arrest after fleeing the scene of an accident overnight.

A car and truck collided near Madison Avenue and Dewey Lane early Friday morning.

When officers arrived, the driver of the truck had run away.

The truck driver was taken into custody a few minutes later when a nearby neighbor called police after seeing the man hiding in the bushes.

CHP officers arrested the man on suspicion of DUI.

Minor injuries were reported.

Spammers bombarding your cell phones with unwanted text messages – and the problem is only expected to get worse.

A Sacramento great-grandmother called Kurtis to find out how to stop them.

We’re talking about 4.5 billion text messages sent to U.S. cell phones last year. And if you don’t have unlimited texts, these spam texts could cost you 20 cents each!

“Claim your gift card now before someone else does,” said Ada Jefferson, while reading a spam text message.

The 71-year-old gets spam text messages around the clock.

“2, 3, 4 o’clock in the morning, 5 o’clock, whatever time,” said Ada.

The heart attack and stroke survivor says the constant dings drive her nuts.

“It just makes me so angry… Like urrrgghhh!!” said Ada.

Americans received 4.5 billion spam texts last year, according to Richi Jennings, an independent industry analyst.

Blasting people with unsolicited text messages is illegal under two federal laws.

But the Federal Trade Commission tells us it’s tough to track down spammers who constantly change their numbers and email.

So far they’ve only successfully tried one spammer.

“Spam makes spammers a ton of money. That’s why they do it,” said Jessica Dolcourt, CNET senior editor.

Dolcourt says the crooks want you to respond with your personal information so they can sell it to telemarketers or get a hold of your money.

“Try never to ever text or email your personal information like your bank account,” said Dolcourt.

You can help identify the crooks by forwarding the messages you get to S-P-A-M or 7726 on your phone.

“That goes to an agency where they basically, it’s a centralized account that takes a look at all the spam messages,” said Dolcourt.

That agency, the Global System for Mobile Communications Association (GSMA), collects the information for cell phone companies who can block the numbers.

Some cell providers also have programs that can cut down on the spam you get.

“We’re giving away dozens of gift cards today,” Ada reads another spam text.

After we contacted Ada’s provider, the number of spam she’s received has dropped.

“So much stress lifted off me,” said Ada.

You can also report spam to the FTC and FCC.

“In this second batch of episodes, [Raquel] totally goes off the rails, and it’s almost like this game that the writers are playing to see what Jewel will do next. They’re letting me run wild with it. I’m having even more fun, and I feel even more creatively fulfilled,” The L.A. Complex star Staite shared with LA TV Insider Examiner when we caught up with her during a rare break in shooting last month.

When Raquel finds herself pregnant, it’s an eye-opener, and a potential life-changer, but not just for her. Could you imagine poor, screwed up Connor (Jonathan Patrick Moore) as a father? He couldn’t, though he admitted he hoped that all Connor “really needs is a grounding force in his life, and maybe a baby could be that for him.”

“Can of worms [would be] an understatement!” Staite said about what the pregnancy causes. “Things get way out of hand! She doesn’t deal with that well, which is expected, and it creates totally different situations. It becomes a disaster.”

Staite, who admitted she wasn’t sure Raquel should “ever have children,” did remind us of the deep void in Raquel’s life. Though she has always been so focused on filling it with fame and adoration from strangers, perhaps the unconditional love and need of a little baby night do the trick? Besides, this is Raquel, and the idea of making headlines for being a new “celebri-mommy” must cross her mind!

“If you think about it logistically– think about it like this: she slept with Connor, and then it wasn’t until like a good week, week and a half later that she slept with Gary. And then she took a pregnancy test pretty much the next day. So if you put it that way…”

But who the baby’s father is, and whether or not Raquel chooses to tell him the truth, will undoubtedly affect her relationship with both men and her plans to proceed with them. On one hand, Connor is just as screwed up as she is, but she cares about him and wants him in her life anyway. On the other hand, Gary (Rob Stewart) could give her everything she has always worked for, but she might not be really ready to accept all of those things.

“I think [Gary] came in at the wrong time and scared the hell out of her and she went ‘Oh no, no, no. He’s too perfect; I don’t deserve this.’ She hates herself in a lot of ways. There’s a lot about herself that she can’t accept and doesn’t like, and I don’t think, deep down inside, she feels she deserves somebody like that– especially because, you know, she’s manipulating him.”

But is she manipulating him enough to tell him he’s her baby daddy, even if he really isn’t? You may just have to stay tuned to find out!
