Police: 4 Dead In South Lake Park Home, Possible Suspect Detained In San Francisco

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Police say four people have been found dead inside a home in the South Land Park neighborhood of Sacramento. And one person has been detained.

At 7 a.m. this morning, police say they made a welfare check at a home in the 1100 block of 35th Avenue after they received information from a family member that there were “suspicious circumstances.” Officers went to the home, and when they didn’t get an answer, went inside. There, they found four bodies, according to Ofc. Linda Matthew, a Sacramento Police Department spokesperson.

Police say a possible suspect has been detained in San Francisco. And that person’s name has not been released.

“This does not appear to be a random act. We believe the victims were known to the suspect. At this point, a possible suspect is detained in San Francisco,” said Matthew.

Police have not released the identity of the victims or how they died.

A nearby resident shared her reaction to hearing the news.

“I don’t have the specifics of the scene inside, but certainly homicide scenes — anything like this — where someone is killed, it’s never…it’s never a good call to respond to,” said Matthew.

“Our hearts go out to all those involved in this horrific crime,” said Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg in a statement. “We appreciate the hard work done by the police department in regards to this crime.”

This is a developing story.
