H and K Farms is a booming business out of Elverta. Good Day featured the spot last year--run by (at the time) high schooler Maceo Hart-Kapic. Maceo is now running the farm from the UC Berkeley campus, where he is currently going to school. H and K are now the largest organic vegetable farm in Northern Sacramento County totaling 28.2 acres over two properties with 10 employees!
So, Good Day is back today to see the gains.

that team of year again when all things spikey, spiny, scaly come out to play! The 19th annual Sacramento Reptile Show is back and taking over the Sacramento Convention Center this weekend! This is the 19th annual show! Highlights of this year's show: 100,000 square feet of show featuring over 3,000 reptiles, including a venomous reptile display with more than 45 venomous reptiles including King Cobras and Black Mambas, a Conservation Corner featuring local organizations that focus on amazing local wildlife, and hands-on opportunities with Izod both days!!

Hot Pink Fun Run
This morning Roseville is turning into a sea of pink!!! The 9th annual Hot Pink Fun Run has become a major celebration and a remembrance for all the breast cancer survivors and those who were not as fortunate to beat the dreaded disease. Today Downtown Roseville is expected to attract 1,200 pink-clad runners, many of them dressed in various outlandish pink outfits!

Red Bull Curb Kings
Today local Sacramento skateboarders, invited by Red Bull and PLA Skateboarding, will have the opportunity to showcase their creative skills on custom parking blocks and double-sided curbs. Practiced by generations past to present, curb skateboarding has and always will be a party of the sport's DNA! Red Bull Curb Kings is a street skateboarding event that is closing down 20th street in front of Lowbrau with10 custom cement curbs, ledges and handrails and creating a custom course in the middle of the street.

Peace Officer Memorial Run
This race was developed to honor the police officers from Stanislaus County who were killed in the line of duty. In honor of these heroes, the start line, finish line and each mile of the half marathon will be dedicated to one of the 15 fallen officers from Stanislaus County. The officers' photo along with the agency they worked for and their "End of watch" date will be displayed at their mile marker. Multiple officers will be running in full uniform showing their dedication and pride to the badge of honor they wear.

BIG CRUSH is a great time to see the harvest in action, with scenes of teeming vineyards, trudging tractors, bustling crush pads, and incomparable Amador wine region hospitality! Creative food & wine pairings, a variety of live music, and harvest activities are presented by warm & friendly family wineries.
Zinfandel Cherry Sorbet Recipe
Ingredients
½ cup water
1 cup zinfandel (or other dark red wine)
½ cup coconut sugar
1 lime
3 cups of sweet cherries, pitted and frozen
Instructions
1. Six hours or more ahead of time, combine the zinfandel, coconut sugar, and water in a small saucepan. Keeping the burner on very low heat, reduce this mixture down until it is ¾ to 1/2 cup of liquid. (This takes about one hour, but for this recipe for sorbet, is worth the wait!). Set aside to cool, and then refrigerate until cold.
2. Place the chilled wine and sugar reduction along with the 3 cups of frozen cherries and the juice of one lime.
3. Using a Vitamix or a regular household blender start machine on low, turn machine on and increase to medium for five seconds, then slowly increase to High for about one minute. Use the tamper to push the ingredients into the blades. Reduce to low for an additional 15 to 30 seconds.
4. Serve up immediately and enjoy!!
