Fill the Pack
Placer County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue teams are responsible for saving so many lives; this spring, they led the days-long search for lost hiker Cody Michael after he went missing in the local mountains. And two weeks ago, veteran ground searcher Steve Wolf was shot by an unknown assailant while searching rugged Nevada County for a lost 72-year-old man. Now they need the public’s help with a first-time fund-raising event called “Fill the Pack.” Similar to the “Fill the Boot” efforts of firefighters, all search and rescue teams will be at two Roseville locations to “fill the pack” with donations from citizens. Donations will be used to purchase specialized search equipment, critical medical supplies, and specialized training for team members.
