The students at Lake Canyon Elementary School are learning to paint and more. Eighty-five of the students are developing a permanent mural painted onto recycled metal panels. They have been preparing for it by learning how to paint for the last few months, meeting every Tuesday after school in their cafeteria.
It’s a fin-tastic way to give kids a splashing good time in the pool this Summer. Lighthouse Mermaid Productions teaches classes so children can learn to be pearl-fect mermaids in the water!

A local woman with a knack for sewing is using her talent for good! She and her five girlfriends have been creating the handmade “Judy Dolls” for almost 20 years!! The dolls are donated to local organizations that assist families as well as orphanages as far away as Uganda, Kiev, Iraq, Chernobyl, Belarus, Kenya and Afghanistan! Today we meet the creator, Judy Ellison.

From breakfast-in-bed ideas to mid-day sweet treats, it’s time to toast all the moms in the world with ‘toast’! The executive chef from Safeway whips up some unique mother’s day bites that all start with bread!!
Signature SELECT Artisan French Bread, sliced lengthwise and toasted
2 tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Ripe Hass avocados
Pinch of Kosher Salt
Pinch of Fresh Ground Black Pepper
Signature SELECT uncured bacon; cooked
Fresh lemon wedge
Toast baguette using toaster, broiler or oven. Rub garlic clove over toasted surface of bread and drizzle with olive oil. Top with sliced avocado and season with salt and pepper. Top with crumbled or slices of bacon. Garnish with a lemon wedge and serve.
2 (2 ounce) scoops Signature SELECT Moose Tracks Ice Cream
3 ounces prepared Signature SELECT Coffee, Kona Blend
Soft whipped cream
Peanut Brittle, crushed
Add 2 scoops to a clear parfait glass. Pour half an ounce of coffee over ice cream. Top with soft whipped cream, chocolate shavings and peanut brittle.
Shoot with and without toppings.
