HOTEL MONACO PORTLAND
If you’re looking for a quick and easy getaway but don’t feel like getting stuck in the inevitable Bay Area or Lake Tahoe traffic, venture past the California borders and give Portland a try!! This Oregon gem is less than two hours away by plane and allows tense travelers the necessary time to unwind with perks like in-flight cocktails! Sounds a lot more enticing than white-knuckling it all the way to your destination only to arrive tenser than when you left! Portland is a city with plenty of personality that exudes the big city vibe without the big city attitude. Whether you’re in the mood to shop (without sales tax I might add), dine or just escape, Portland has something for everyone!
And right smack dab in the middle of this eclectic metropolis is Hotel Monaco. To experience the true essence of Portland, there’s no better anchor than Hotel Monaco in all its fascinatingly eccentric glory. This Kimpton boutique hotel is near everything you could want: Pioneer Square and Tom McCall Waterfront Park for the outdoors, the flagship Nike store and Powell’s Books for shopping, and some of the best breweries and coffee shops for sipping.
Hotel Monaco offers the best of both worlds — the comfort and class of a four or five-star hotel combined with the understated flash and pizzazz of a social hotspot. The building itself has quite the story! It’s the site of the historic Lipman Wolfe Department Store that opened back in 1912. The soaring ceilings, picture windows, and design lines mimic those of the original department store.
But while Hotel Monaco pays homage to Portland’s rich heritage, it still offers those lush 21st century amenities you’ve come to expect from a Kimpton (including the nightly complimentary wine tasting). And if you’re looking for killer grub but don’t want to travel outside the friendly confines of the hotel, dip into Red Star Tavern for a quick bite. This place is sure to satisfy anyone’s hunger at any time of day or night!
All in all, Hotel Monaco was exceptional and I urge all of you to do yourself a favor and experience it for yourselves next time you’re in Portland!

***FEATURED DEALS:
Hotel Monaco is decking the halls Portlandia-style with its “Keep Christmas Weird” package (a riff on the city’s unofficial slogan). Instead of a stocking, you’ll get a pair of PDX carpet socks; in place of coal (for the naughty), there’s charcoal soap from a local apothecary; paying homage to the Made in Oregon sign, a stuffed stag awaits. Plus, in true PDX fashion, a bottled craft cocktail with a flask (or cocoa for kids!) will keep you warm while cruising the holiday lights along the ever-glowing lights on Peacock Lane. Must book by Dec. 24, valid for stays through Dec. 30.
Plus, in addition to the hotel’s traditional holiday decorations, guests can partake in a scavenger hunt for iconic, yet subtle Christmas items scattered throughout the hotel’s main floor – like a miniature version of the A Christmas Story lamp, Seinfeld’s classic Festivus Pole and Cousin Eddie’s moose mug from Christmas Vacation. Everyone who completes the hunt will be entered to win a free night stay.
