Police In Georgia Serving Warrant Break Down Door To Wrong House

DALTON, GA. (AP) — Dalton police rammed down the front door of the wrong house while they were serving a warrant and officials say the department is reviewing the incident.

Police said in a statement that late Tuesday night officers were serving search and arrest warrants after investigators bought marijuana from a man during an undercover investigation. Police say detectives drove by the man's house, saw his truck in the driveway but waited until later to arrest him.

When police returned they mistakenly approached a nearby house that looks similar to the one the suspect was in and used a ram to break open the door after their knocks went unanswered.

Police say officers apologized to the home's residents after breaking the door open and repaired damage. The suspect has also been arrested.
