Beauty and the Beast is the CW's reboot of the classic fairytale, but with a twist.

For example, the "beast" aka Vincent is played by Jay Ryan, and let's just say he is not exactly beastly looking. Executive producer Jennifer Levin explains the beastliness of his character is more internal. She says, "when we were first thinking about this, it was about the beast in our lives, and most of the beasts in our lives don't look like an actual beast."

The "beauty" in the show stays true to the storybook tale. The "Belle" in the CW reboot is Catherine, nicknamed "Cat." Played by Smallville actress Kristen Kreuk, Cat is a homicide detective who is troubled by her dark past. When she was a teenager she witnessed her mother's murder, but she was spared from the assailants by a mysterious savior. She never knew who or what saved her life that night… until now.
