Mariah Rivera's Winning Lumpia Recipe 2012

Winner of the 7th Annual Lumpia Competition on Good Day Sacramento

November 21, 2012

For Filling:

1 lb. ground turkey, cooked in pan

1 green onion, finely chopped

1 bag shredded carrots

½ lb. shrimp pieces

¼ teaspoon black pepper

¼ teaspoon garlic powder

¼ teaspoon onion powder

¼ ajinomoto (MSG – optional)

¼ teaspoon salt

1 pkg. Menlo lumpia wrappers

1 egg used to close wrapper

2 cups oil for frying

Step 1: Cook all filling ingredients together until desired softness.

Step 2: Prep wrappers by peeling them apart & scramble egg in a small dish.

Step 3: Scoop a good spoonful of lumpia stuffing onto your diamond angled wrapper, spread in a long line to your desired thickness.

Step 4: Begin covering the line of stuffing with the bottom of the diamond (closest to you) placing it over the line.

Step 5: Roll lumpia up once then tuck in the outer side corners and continue to roll.

Step 6: Once fully rolled secure the outer corner to the lumpia with the egg paste.

Step 7: Heat up the frying pan and begin frying to desired darkness/crunch.

Step 8: Let the lumpia drain leaning up against the bowl.
