Tina's Ten featuring Courtney Dempsey

Going to start a new blog entry called Tina's Ten.  I'm going to ask 10 questions to various people that I work with, cross paths with or meet for the first time.
I wanted to start off with one of my dearest friends, Courtney Dempsey.  I've known this woman since she was 19!!!!  Did you hear me?  19!!!!  Skip back to the mid 1990's...  my radio days at FM 102... when a VERY POLITE, WELL MANNERED, CUTELY DRESSED (of course) CSUS student was waiting patiently in the lobby of the station.  She was going to be the new intern!  Here I come... shorts, t-shirt, flip flops, no makeup, to welcome her.... and the rest is history.
I have seen this girl grow through the changes that came her way, from not being into kids ("No, I don't want to hold him...") to being a proud mommy that loves and adores her baby girl Mariah.  Court and I have grown to respect and love one another- through all the frickin' hlarious laughter and pissed off moments (even with one another!).  We have a sisterhood.  We are often on the same page and laugh because we just have to give the look and know what the other is thinking.  So funny!  We are particular about things too - our food (extra crispy please), our surroundings (WHO moved my stuff?) and our convictions (that just ain't right!).  Court - you make me laugh, you make me cry, I love you and I hate you.  Court knows what I mean when I say those things!
So, here you go -- Tina's 10 with Court.  Love you girl!  T

1. TM:  You're pretty funny on TV, are you always that cheery?
Why thank you! Actually yes, I'm uncomfortable around people who aren't.
2. TM:  What makes you laugh? Examples…
I love reenactments! The best ones are when my friends and I sit around and act out something that's happened (whether it was originally funny or not) and insert our own little observations. Freaking hysterical!!
3. TM:  You are involved with the community and often busy on weekends.  What organizations are you connected with and what roles do you play?
I'm a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. where I serve on committees in the Sacramento Alumnae Chapter as well as the primary collegiate advisor at Sac State. I'm also a member of the Sacramento Chapter of Jack & Jill of America serving on committees and planning activities for my daughter's age group as well as our annual city-wide baccalaureate program. And I'm very active at my church home including serving as the secretary for the Junior Women's mission at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist church under Pastor Bryant C. Wyatt. I've slowed down a little this year.
4. TM:  When you think of Good Day, what comes to mind?
The family with which I've graduated from college, gotten married and had a child.
 5. TM:  A funny memory of yours when you think of Good Day…
Seriously Tina, one? Deer in the headlights circa 1995 - classic - had to be there.
6. TM:  We met a looooong time ago, how have you changed?
Sooooooo long ago...I've definitely learned how NOT to be so sensitive. Hey T, remember how we used to get all emotional over everything and everybody? Ugh!
7. TM:  Did you imagine you'd be working on GDS for 16 years?
Girl, naw! I can't believe it's been almost half my life.
8. TM:  You love to dance and often dance on the show.  Do you ever get embarrassed?
Absolutely not!! Matter fact, play something right now.
9. TM:  How important is it to you to be organized in your line of work?
E-X-T-R-E-M-E-L-Y important. I have so many things happening and planned all at the same time. There's no way I would be able to handle the job if I weren't. Besides, you know how I am.
10. TM: Mark S. Allen – what have you learned from him?
Oh my goodness, if you could harness the amount of creativity and genius that man possesses we could cure cancer, AIDS, Alzheimer's and end world hunger. Honestly, people think they know what he's about because they see the zany things he does on TV, but he's got SOOOO much more to offer. I've learned to be like an onion and have lots of layers. It's like a secret weapon when people underestimate your intelligence. Hmmmm!
