Close to You: A Tribute to the Carpenters

close to you Close to You: A Tribute to the Carpenters

“Close to You: A Tribute to the Carpenters” is playing the stage at Harlow’s on February 20, but we’ve had them in-house for some preview performances. Just how close are they to the original?

  6. Kevin says:

Jones’n to go….I have heard a few groups do the Carpenters…in their own style…and good listening….this group , I guess actually sounds like the talented sister and brother team….wish the orginal group was still playing great songs…

  7. stacey says:

A class band. Rich voice. Like K Carpenter
How can someone sing well so early in the morning!

  8. Name says:

To bad Michelle could not keep the original band members together. The real credit goes to John Maniacci, Dave Castle and Jerry Spikula. These three men built the band, the click trac, backing vox and instruments for her to sound somewhat like Karen. Robbie Rousseau and Chet Chawlik deserve a huge pat on the back as well. Her web site is a lie… none of the original tribute team could tolerate working with her. Shame on Michelle! Her lack of integrity and honesty will pay dividends in the karma department. Carpenters Live Tribute played this show years ago. The website Whited uses today is a lie. All original members with there recorded music and vocals. Check it out yourself at http://www.closetoyou.com

    1. LBC says:

“Name” sounds like a prior band member.? I am familiar with Michelle the leader, and close to the development of the tribute. She was smart to switch out players and move forward. They are great, and she has integrity. Now that attention is coming their way, “names” comment would be expected. They always appreciate good personalities that contribute and have contributed to their success. “Carpenters -live tribute” was different band.

  9. Marc Murphy says:

CLOSE TO YOU was thought of by Michelle and Jerry Spicula. Kudos to those two. Maniacci was replaced when band
recreated. Castle later. Rousseau and Chet Chwalik played keys andvocals on recordings. Keep tuned for group’s new web site under const.at http://www.CarpentersTributegroup.com.

    1. TY SCHULZ says:

SAW THEM AT HARLOWS AND PLACE SEEMED CROWDED. LOTS OF PEOPLE SANG ALONG ONCE IN A WHILE.SHES A BULLS EYE FOR SOUNDING LIKE CARPENTERS. A SWEETIE UP THERE WITH THE BAND. THEY’RE LIVE ON THIS GOOD DAY SAC.SHOW STARTS 5 IN THE MORNIN. NEED TO SEE THE GUITAR! tHE BAND IS AT HARLOWS AGAIN MAY 22. I’LL BE THERE! CLOSE TO YOU!

    2. Ultimate says:

Hey Marc…. do your homework bro! Carpenters Live Tribute was renamed CLOSE TO YOU by Castle, Whited and Spikula after Maniacci’s departure. Maniacci’s keys and Castle drums are still being heard on the tributes website today. Contrary to popular belief…. Maniacci, Castle & Whited built the band from scratch and both men are the reason Whited still has hope. Spikula, original bass man (Awesome!)… stepped in on the tech aspect once Maniacci was out. Spikula rebuilt the click using Chwalik and Rousseau for keys and vox. FYI…. Maniacci and Castle are the two men responsible for orchestrating the tribute. Whited will continue to take credit…. where is the humility? Leave your contact info if you dare and we’ll chat.

  10. Back at ya says:

Hey “Ultimate.” Castle was never a part of rebuilding anew, as it is now. Spikula & the lead singer,Michelle developed that click track. NOT castle, NOT Maniaci. I know, as I was a engineer advising her. She & Spikula booted both. the names you mention, Castle & Man. -actually, the 2 gave drummer Castle another chance! Air your anger somewhere else. Popular belief is lead vocal doesn’t need hope. She’s there, they’re not..
You must be a friend of those 1st involved. I expect to read from you again
