She’s back! Born and raised in Sacramento, Julissa Ortiz is thrilled to be home!

Julissa attended St. Francis Elementary and St. Francis High School. She started her TV career right here at CW31 as an intern for Good Day Sacramento. After graduating from the University of Southern California, Julissa landed her first on-air job in the desert southwest as the Imperial Valley Bureau Chief for KYMA-TV, the NBC affiliate in El Centro, California. A little over a year later, Julissa moved from the desert to the beach as the weekend weather anchor for KCOY-TV, the CBS affiliate on the central coast. During her five years there, she worked her way into the primary anchor chair on the 6 o’clock evening news. Julissa was also the primary reporter for the Michael Jackson Child Molestation Trial. Julissa is best known for her morning segments, “Breakfast With Julissa” and Friday morning pep rallies at area high schools.

  4. Ruthie Warren says:

    Makes 15

    1/2 cup sugar
2 large egg yolks, lightly beaten
3 ounces semisweet chocolate, melted and cooled
4 ounces salted shelled pistachios (about 1 cup), ground to a paste in a food processor
    1 large egg white
    1/8 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
    Pinch of coarse salt
    6 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped
    1 tablespoon vegetable shortening
For the garnish: slivered, unsalted, shelled pistachios (optional)

Make filling: Bring 1/4 cup sugar and 1/4 cup water to a simmer in a small saucepan over medium heat, stirring until sugar has dissolved; set aside.
Put egg yolks in the heatproof bowl of an electric mixer set over a pan of simmering water. Whisk by hand until yolks are warm to the touch, about 2 minutes. Fit mixer with the whisk attachment. Mix yolks on medium speed; pour in sugar syrup. Raise speed to high; mix until mixture is cool and fluffy, about 3 minutes. Reduce speed to medium; drizzle in melted chocolate. Refrigerate until firm, about 45 minutes.
Make cookies: Put pistachio paste and rest of sugar in the clean bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment. Mix on medium speed until smooth. Mix in the egg white, vanilla, and salt.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Transfer dough to a pastry bag fitted with a small (about 1/4 inch) plain round tip (such as Ateco #10). Pipe 1-inch rounds onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing about 1 inch apart.
Bake cookies until firm and golden around edges, about 10 minutes. Transfer on parchment to a wire rack, and let cool completely.
Place cookies, bottom sides up, on a wire rack set over a baking sheet. Spread 1 to 1 1/2 teaspoons chocolate filling on bottom of half of the cookies. Sandwich with remaining cookies. Freeze 1 hour.
Make glaze: Melt chocolate in a heatproof bowl set over a pan of simmering water, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat. Add shortening; stir until combined. Let cool, stirring, until mixture is lukewarm.
Using a chocolate fork or regular fork, hold 1 cookie at a time above bowl of chocolate glaze. Spoon glaze over cookie, letting excess drip back into bowl. Transfer to a wire rack set over a baking sheet. Garnish with slivered pistachios. Refrigerate until set, 5 minutes. Cookies can be refrigerated in single layers in airtight containers up to 3 days.

Okay maybe the Holiday BreakUp Folks are just Cheap and Worthless, wanting to exit oefbre a gift is Due. But, if you are going to be a scoundrel, you might as well be a creative one, like my Ex from 10 years ago .This creep was coming home later and later every night but always with sacks of groceries. He’d say he had to work late, then wanted to pick up a few things (annoying, yes but he was shopping, so .)Until the night/morning he came home a 3 a.m. and I checked the grocery receipt he had thrown away The time stamp on it was for 7AM the previous morning!!!!!!!! All along, had been shopping very early as soon as he left the house hiding the groceries in the car going straight from work to play with his new friend, and then coming home super late, as though he had just been shopping for hours !!!!!!! But, hey, I give him credit .didn’t know he was that smart!!!Bye, Bye Bozo .

I’m pretty sure I’ve never mjamyomcked, for two reasons: 1, my mother is one of those people who always has to one-up your sickness/fatigue/headache with a story about how bad her own is, and that shit drives me crazy, so I make it a point not to do it. 2, I’m sorry, but my FB is supposed to be about ME, yes? I rarely post statuses on my own page about my kids, unless it’s something cool like, (3 year old) is playing Plants vs Zombies, and WINNING. or Check out this awesome video of (10 year old) doing the Safety Dance at the school assembly. Oh, and there’s a number 3: Every time I go to comment on someone else’s post, I read it before I hit enter, and half the time I delete it just because I don’t think it’s as amusing or helpful as I had planned. Like I tell my talkative kid who drives me nuts, Just because you thought it doesn’t mean you have to say it. I think a lot of people (moms or not) could stand to hear this advice. Just because you typed it doesn’t mean you have to post it.

      1. Diann says:

Okay, I apologize, Steve, no harm intended…Large is a great last name for a man–inferring to the size of lower extremities–but for Natalia Bella? Jokes will abound. I know–I’ve been substituting for middle school for 15 years and kids can be mean. Best wishes to all of you.

Try to be the better oprsen without them noticing it. Be humble around them, but don’t let them walk all over you. “Pretend” to “like” them by at least nodding and saying a quick hello when you cannot avoid running into them.Stay out of their business, let their own stupidity run its course they will eventually draw the attention of others for the wrong reasons and their own lifestyle will blow up on them. Avoid them as much as possible, do not allow any conversations beyond a polite hello. If you attempt to get involved they will drag you into their world.Focus only on yourself. If you have any support at all, a friend or relative or co-worker or social worker who is willing to stop by once in a while, then have them do it when your nasty neighbors see you have company once in a while they will be less likely to try and take advantage of you.If they are truly psychotic and abusive talk to your local law enforcement and see if other people have complained about them, if the police wont help, then you must distract yourself by only taking care of yourself and ignore them.Try planting lots and lots of tall growing shrubs and plants between your yards for more privacy.Consider getting a home security system. Consider getting a much bigger dog than they have, like a German Shepherd or a Rottweiler.Do not EVER go along with them to town for lunch or anything ever again, just turn them down politely, tell them you are expecting company Don’t be rude to them (that will only fuel their fire), just be a passing shadow to them, they will hopefully not bother you anymore. These people will drag you down to the worst end, don’t let them stay away from mean people. They suck.

the only knowldge most poplee have of it is through the media. Exactly! So we are not in a position to form a proper opinion. So we shouldn’t go around shouting guilty , when we know perfectly well we’re not in a position to judge.without being personally involved in the case, I, like everyone else, on practically every issue, am forced to rely on the media for the raw material from which opinions are formed. If you acknowledge this fact, MM, then perhaps you ought to be a little more circumspect. If you know your opinion is founded on incomplete or unreliable evidence, then doesn’t that give you pause for thought? When one is, by one’s own admission, not in full possession of the facts, one is not actually in a position to form an opinion on anything other than the reporting itself. And that, I believe, is the only sane/rational position to take. Anything else is dangerous hearsay, and that’s no way to run a country, or a legal system.

HORRIFIC UPDATE on Samantha as of today, Wednesday, December 07, 2011 about 10:30AM:
I am working with a wonderful director from a rescue that works with low income people and homeless with their pets in Sacramento. She is awesome. She was able to convince the owners to let her take Samantha to the vet today, Wednesday. Samantha is in really bad shape. Her demodex is chronic, her complete chest is raw, she has bumps all over her body and she can’t stop itching. She has chronic diarrhea, she is weak, she does not have vaccines and she does not get any attention. She still needs other tests. The original Sacramento County Animal report said it was not so bad and the dog is ok and has what she needs, but maybe it was because it was late in the evening and not enough light. This girl needs continued medical attention and the owners cannot give it!! Now to describe the horrid conditions she is living in! We hope the owners surrender her to the rescue. When the rescue went to pick her up to take her to the vet she was surrounded by her own diarrhea feces and lying in it, she is on a very short leash, she is tied all the time, she is in a corner in the back yard and is outside in this cold weather, she had no food or water, she was weak to get up and she cowered and whimpered when the male owner approached her (it was so sad), but so happy and loving to the two women from the rescue. She is very sweet and loving even though she is in these horrible conditions. We need to find a foster home for her where she is loved and cared for. The rescue is willing to take care of the medical. She needs your thought and prayers. She needs a Christmas miracle. This breaks my heart!!

About 8 months, I netciod her mums temper She has developed that much more now she is 17 months. I believe most of your personality is born into you. Empathy, genuine kindness, even temper, shyness, patience are all to do with chemicals in the brain. Our DNA may construct our children the same way. This is unpopular with a lot of people who believe we are all individual blank slates. You can train a DOLPHIN to be kind, but only by a reward scheme. Genuine kindness and empathy will shine through when she gives you her toast, even when she wants it. It will show soon.
